About
TranStow was initially started to provide an interesting and challenging project for six final year students studying for a Master’s degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing at Queens University Belfast. From investigation of the provision of public transport for wheel chair users, the need for better solutions became apparent. Preliminary concept development indicated that such solutions are indeed realistically achievable. The decision was then taken by the six founding members to further develop ideas and bring into production a better solution. On the 8th October 2007 TranStow was established with each founding member becoming a director.
Upon achievement of their degrees in June 2008 the directors will devote themselves fully to this business. All directors have previously spent time in industry, gaining a varied and extensive portfolio of skills. TranStow are currently utilising fully the extensive research and development facilities available at Queens. TranStow will move to its own premises in Ballymena in June 2008. However, the close links with Queens will remain.
To date TranStow have gained industrial support from Wrightbus and Translink. Wrightbus are the leading supplier of buses throughout the UK and their knowledge and advice has been invaluable. Translink are the current public transport provider throughout Northern Ireland and represent our products end user. The feedback provided by Translink has been a further crucial part in the development of the product. |
