History of The Carleton Cake Company

Established as a family business in 1994 by Wilfred and Doreen Carleton, Carleton Cakes initially began as a retail bakery in Market Street, Cootehill. Carleton’s baking skill, enthusiasm and determination saw them quickly establish a reputation for quality and for the traditional home-baked taste of their products.

The company were awarded for excellence on a number of occasions including a 1 st place award at the prestigious All Ireland Bakex Competition. As a result, the business rapidly developed and expanded and Carleton’s quickly outgrew their humble retail outlet.

Carleton’s subsequently moved to more spacious premises at the Enterprise Centre in Cootehill, and established the company as a wholesale bakery called the Carleton Cake Company. Now employing a dedicated staff of more than 20, The Carleton Cake Company has become one of Ireland’s leading wholesale bakeries.

Despite the commercial success and growth of the business Carleton’s passion for traditional baking has not wavered, and they have continued to honour their commitment to the use of time-honoured traditional recipes and to quality, freshness and additive-free baking.
